Newspaper headlines about the Riots

The Whitsun Bank Holiday riots between Mods and Rockers take place. Photos of Mods and Rockers smashing each other on the Brighton seaside inflame the British public.

The press also reports a sad incident connected with the Mod invasion. The body of a 17-year old Mod named Barry Prior is discovered in the surf below a cliff on which his empty sleeping bag is found. Pete will read the story and, nine years later, use it as a basis for his work Quadrophenia.
